Hey,
I have a 91 mustang GT. I don't have much experience working on cars but I want to learn, so I decided to give my car new spark plugs, wires, rotor and cap. I also cleaned and oiled my cold air intake filter. After all was complete I started the car up and the idle was a little rough after about a minute it stalled out and continued to get rougher and stall out after several starts.
Can anyone offer some advice that someone with little knowledge like me might be able to diagnose, check, identify and hopefully fix? maybe I knocked something out? Did I put to much oil on the filter? I double checked to make sure all the wires were in the correct spot and checked to see if the plugs were not loose, following guidelines. I did have some trouble with the removal and install of the last plug closest to the firewall on the passenger side, in the process I definetly jostled some of the wires and connections that are in that spot—maybe something here got screwed up.
I used motorsport spark plugs, wires, rotor and cap, all purchased from ford. I gapped all the plugs as recommended to .050. I also used the K&N oil and cleaning kit.
heres what my car has:
-BBK unequal length ceramic coated headers
-BBK H-pipe with high flow cats
-Flowmaster 2 chamber cat-back exhaust
-Pro 5.0 short throw shifter
-Pro Flow 75mm mass air sensor
-MAC cold air intake, fender well mount version
-Underdrive pulleys (water pump and crank pulleys)
-140A alternator upgrade
would be great to get some advice.
many thanks.
