Stalling?

Hi guys, just after some thoughts here. Ok it's just coming into winter here, the roads are wet so sometimes the wheels spin a little when i leave the lights (yeah i know drive a little softer but i do try and this isn't the issue) Anyway when the wheels start to spin a bit i back off so it doesn't slide sideways and when i take my foot off the gas it sometimes stalls? Why does this happen? Also I know sometimes when it's dry and i put my foot down it feels like it loses all power and almost cuts out before it picks up. I have a 302, holley 600, edelbrock performer manifold, pace maker headers, electronic ignition, mild cam if that makes any difference. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

exactly how much are u spinning. Sometimes, when the rpm's get way up, and then there is not throttle at all and u let them drop all the way down, the car will die. It has happen to me at the track a few times, when i do my burnout, i spin them and get off the trottle quickly, the rpm's will drop all the way down and the car will die. Now i dont know y it happens, but i know that is sometimes the cause of it. Hope this helps somewhat.

i thought it might have something to do with a sudden drop in rpm but who knows.
When they spin it seems only momentary, i don't think the revs would be getting out much over 2500. It spins easy at the moment cause i'm about to get new tyres to replace the worn rears. I also thought it may be not getting enough fuel or something?

Check the accelrator pump to see if it squirts fuel inside the carb as you quickly open the throttle - if it's not squirting fuel, that could explain why your engine stumbles as you try to quickly accelrate on dry road.

As for stalling when you take off gas, just make sure your idle is set high enough and/or choke is properly adjusted. It may be opening too soon as it warms up.
