So my girlfriends 95 gt is overheating. Its got a newer radiator in it. I drove it around for a mile or so and then came back to my house, then it started to get hot on the guage/overheating. I Poped the hood and the fan is not on, and never came on. What should I do now? Thanks

if the fan is not comming on it might be the relays or teh t-stat. was the rad just put in? if it was, it might be vapor locked and not letting the t-stat open. I need just a bit more info before I can throw out any more ideas.

^^^wurd.

Run the car for a while. Check your lower radiator hose. It should swell up and get quite warm. If its not, take out the t-stat and run it without it. If it still overheats or if the lower radiator hose is still cooler than the upper, you have something wrong with either your heads/head gaskets or something is wrong with the radiator itself.

Could also be the CCRM, as it controls the fan. However, it also controls the fuel pump, so it's not extremely likely it's the cause. I'd check to make sure the t-stat is opening like the others said.

Well I took the thermostat out and it still started to overheat, the fan still is not coming on and I think thats the problem, no signs of a blown headgasket.

what i did is took my fog light switch and wires and made my fan come on when i turn on the fog light switch that is how i fixed my overheating problem the bad thing about it is you have to have the lights on but it cooled it down it is that little box that goes into the fan and you have to get it from ford so i just rigged it to my fog light switch

Probably the ECT sensor bad. Go to my website - see sig - then go to the tech articles, I have an article on troubleshooting cooling system problems.

when i had my overheating problem i changed t stat and verified the fan still worked by taking wires from the battery to the fan and that told me the fan still worked and it was just something else.

The first thing you need to do is see if you have power at the fan motor when the car is hot.If you do then it most likely the fan(which is not uncommon). If you dont then its time to start checking other items ccrm&Tenp sensor. If I had to bet I would say its the fan motor..I have gone through two in the past three years. Some guy's on here say you could just buy the motor but I havent found one that fits correctly.
