Guys I have been on here a long time.

I got my first stang at 13, pushed it home and restored it, 1967 hi-po

had a 98GT

a 97 V-6

and most recently a 96 Cobra with 500+bhp

Well the bad news, the cobra was totaled in a rear end colision, I was stopped at the bottom of an off ramp waiting for traffic to clear then BOOM!!!! a 13,000lb truck slams into the back of my car sending me into traffic. Lucky for me there was time and space for the traffic to aviod me.

Currently I am stangless and finishing school in hopes to by a 2011 Mustang GT in about a year or so.

yeah I was told that it is going to be totaled for sure, the damage was pretty major and the car is 13 years old. The only thing that I really want to know and haven't gotten word back on yet is when they total out my car will they take into consideration all the money I spent of modifications.

I've never totaled a car, so if anyone knows what to do about modded cars that are totaled let me know. Maybe they will let me keep the engine and we can call it a wash, .

First, glad you are ok - that sounded like it could have really been a nasty wreck.

As far as the car itself goes - if you kept the receipts for all of your mods/bolt-ons, you *might* be able to recover *some* of the money you spent...which insurance company do you have?

You may be stuck paying their asking price for the wrecked vehicle. You could then sell the mods and parts from it, of course.

Those with seriously modified cars usually opt to insure their ride via an "agreed value" policy or inquire about a "rider" policy (although most insurers will want to void your insurance policy for "performance mods," so be careful). You may have to shop around with different insurance companies...
