start up problems

It seems that whenever my engine is hot, my car wont start. I thought at first that something was sucking battery but its not the case cuz as long as i wait for the engine to cool, itll start. Could this be an ignition coil prob, or bad points or something? i really dunno..

If it won't crank, then it's probably an ignition problem. If it won't start, then it's getting too hot. Is there any way your head is plugged up? Did it sit for a long time with coolant/water in it? I was having problems like that with a Y-Block. It sat for so long water only, that the rust buildup was phenomenal. Looked like crazy orange sludge in the back cylinders. I had to get it hot tanked for... 3 days? Or thereabouts. Also, pressure test the radiator. I'd go after the cooling system if it cranks.

sorry, ya it wont even turn over. i can hear the stater turning slowly and my interior lights dim, but it wont crank hard enough to start it. but the car starts fine when its cold so i dunno where the problem lies

typical symptoms of a worn starter when it is dragging. When the engine is hot, the armature expands and starts touching the field magnets. The slow cranking and the dimming of the interior lights indicates a high current drain. Time to replace the starter.

Ditto, or at least have a set of high torque field coils put in your's. The parts house reman starters used to be notorious about the field coils. You seldom found a good one with new coils.

Yeah, hot starter. Annoying as all hell having to wait for it to cool when you have to be somewhere. Do you have headers? If so make sure thet are not cooking the starter before wrecking a new one.
