I dont usually browse this forum, I spent my time in the 5.0 tech/talk sections, but i've been stopping in recently and today I started my winter project and would like to get some opinions. I'm tired of my trunk looking like trash and since I'm moving the battery back there soon, i figured it was a good time to clean things up. The system I have is two JL Audio 10w0's and a 500 watt Hi-Fonics amp. I bought this stuff used from a friend and it hits pretty hard, at least enough for what I need. Since I already have a box, I didn't want to build a new one and I wanted to use the spare tire well for space and some cool ideas.

First step was hoping the car would start with no problems so I could move it into the garage. Check.

This is the trunk, pretty bare, and I had the box just sitting where the spare tire should be with the amp screwed to the back. Not exactly an ideal set up.

First, I cut that little handle thing and flatted it out with the intentions of mounting the box on its back. Then I decided it might look cool if I angled it.

And i made a little piece to hold it in place.

I can't decide if I like this set-up or not. What do you guys think? I'm going to make the rest of the floor out of wood and cover it all with carpet. Comments would be greatly appreciated since I want to consider as many options as possible before I start really building anything.

Nice looking Stang. Hide the wires and since you say you are not really using your trunk for storage, build a custom box that will utilize all the space in the trunk. Flush mount the amp, maybe a fiberglass box like some of the ones talked about on this forum. That way, you don't have to worry about recarpeting your trunk.

Yes you should use the space for the spare tire as extra room for the box. Because the bigger the box, usually the harder hit. And its not like your going to put anything else in there.

bigger the box--harder the hit is wrong...boxes should be built to spec...and it would not be difficult at all to build an enclosure that would take advantage of the tire well....if u build a custom enclosure make sure you or someone that knows what they are doing uses the correct amount of vlume for those 2 subs....JL makes great products--be a shame to make em crap....

The box i have now is the right size for the subs, so i'm going to stick with it. I made cardboard templates for the floor, but i'm going to wait until i move the battery so that i can make a spot for it. I'm also debating whether i still want all this extra weight in a car thats supposed to be fast haha. I'll post up some pics later on. Spent today rewiring my foglights and getting rid of some useless wires that the police needed when they used the car.
