I have a 1990 mustang lx with a 347. I'm not sure but I think I put the distributor in wrong. I had it point to the nr 8 cylinder and had the nr 1 cylinder at top dead center. Does this mean I am 180 out it's just making a popping noise ans sounds like I'm messing something up. The engine bottom end was built by a machine shop so I no it's right with aligns g the dots on the timing chain.
2nd probem am having is I can't get the push button toggle to work for the starter. I have painless wiring and a 6al msd ignition system. The battery is mounted in the back. I have the hot wire ran to the solenoid on the fire wall and all I am getting is a clicking noise. I can use the jumper cables to turn the engine over. I have the battery ran to a on/off switch mounted in the back and I think it's 10 gauge wire ran to the solenoid on the fire wall. The starter that is on the engine doesn't have a built in solenoid.
Any help would be greatly appreciated this is really frustrating when I don't no much about the electrical side to troubleshoot. Thanks
Wes
