My starter solenoid hangs up sometimes. I can hit the solenoid and the starter will stop spinning. I have changed the solenoid. I think this is because of low alternator charging(can this be?)I plan on wiring my electric fan up through a fog light switch so its not pulling current all the time. Will this solve my problem?

huh.

So, your starter sticks and continues to crank?
I don't see how your fan would affect it...

Try jump starting it or charging your battery up, then you can eliminate any worries about you alternator causing it.
If you can hit your solonoid and make it stop, I guess I'd suspect arcing and welding itself closed. I guess. Check a few voltages, make sure theres no voltage to the excite wire when the key isn't in the start position.

that is not a battery/charging prob. the starter draws a lot more amps that a fan ever will.

since you can tap the soleniod and it stops, check your connections at the soleniod including ground. either you got a bad solenoid(new parts are know to be bad from the manufacturer) or your ground or other connection is causing too much of a draw. How is the starter??
