starter problem????

hi fellas, well this morning i try to star my stang for go to the work, but i put the key in the ignition switch the fuel pump hear, the tachometer ligth turns on, all normal, but when i turn on the switch i hear an a click and then zero current, the claxon dont work, the power locks dont have current, the heads ligths to, actually the interior ligths dont work to, i have the car without a courrent, so i check my batery and it has a -12.4 v, i disconect the starter wire, and then all the courrent come up, the powers lock work again, the claxon, the interior lamps, averything, but the i reconect the starter wire and all fine and when i try to star the engine and i turn the switch to the on position then bump another click, and again no courrent at all, is this trouble generate from the starter? or is the batery?

Test the battery, connections, ground, solenoid, and starter.

Sounds like it could be the solenoid or ignition swich to me. But I would test everything to determine what it is for sure. I know one of the guys has a check list that's been posted in tech before.

actually i discharge the switch because i disconect the starter wire, and then the all courrent cam back, i trun on the switch and i heard a click in the solenoid where the psotive batery engages, that one thas is locate between the batery and the shock tower, y reconect the starter wire to this solenoid and the all courrent was out, totally death. is this means that the trouble is in the starter?

I am having the same problem with my car right now. Do what the guy said. I know you just want an easy answer but there is not an easy answer. Those solenoid's go bad all the time. I had a guy get 3 straight bad solenoid's from ford. So it is easy to do. If you can rule out the battery and alt fast, that only leaves you with the ign switch, solenoid, and starter. Since the starter only has 2 bolts and ford starters suck, I would take it out and have autozone test it. From what they tell me, you need a 2 foot extension and go from the top of the car to get the top starter bolt out

What is a claxon? I know English is probably not your first language but I was just curious.

I agree with getting the battery load tested. Voltage doesnt mean much when you need to start the car (amperage does).

If you have a jumper battery, you could try using it. The caveat is that bad battery connections can hinder even a jump start.

Check all battery connections. Its sounds to me that you have a bad battery ground. There is enough connection to power lights and small accessories but when you put a load on it (ie trying to crank the starter) the connection cannot handle the load.
