starter solenoid problem

in the last 10 weeks i've gone thru 2 starter solenoids on my 86 gt vert. i'm buying the good ones, that usually last for years. any idea what would cause these to go out so fast all of a sudden?

Make sure that the battery to engine block ground wire is in good condition and the place where it bolts to the block is clean and shiny.

Also make sure that the place where the solenoid mounts has a clean and shiny place to ground to. The metal mounting bracket for the solenoid serves as the ground for the solenoid.
