Hey there.

I did a T5 swap on my 65' coupe last summer. I had to change the starter as there was a small clearance issue getting it to fit properly. This starter was on my 289 with the original 3 speed manual transmission.

I am going to sell the starter now. To bad since it only has 200 miles on it from when I bought it. Anyways what other engines and transmissions can use it? Can any 302's or engines with automatics use it?

I just want to know so I can post a proper add.. I am attaching a pic of the starter.

Thanks for you help

I know the older small blocks use a different starter than the newer ones. I'm not talking about the high torque mini starters from 92 up. The housing will look the same but the gear end is different, shorter and longer. They will bolt up but the gears are different lengths. I just saw this somewhere, I will try to post a link. I am replacing my 88 with a high torque and my dad wanted mine for his 67 289, but it is different. That starter should work for all small blocks as long as they use the shorter end.
