Hey guys

So today I just finished converting my car from Auto to 5spd. When i went to start my car to take it for a test drive, as soon as i put the key in the ignition and turn it to the point were only the dash lights should come on along with the radio the starter engages and the car will start with the starter still spinning in attempt to start. It begins to start before i ever even turn the key to the start position. please help

Look for a crossed ignition wire. The S-terminal wire might be powered by a key-on source, rather than in the'crank' only position. This could happen at the ignition switch itself or at the safety switch (if you did any wire splicing).

Depending upon how you spliced or rewired things, if the issue goes away when you take your foot off the clutch, that's telling (if it goes away, the issue is before the safety switch. If the starter keeps spinning after taking your foot off the clutch, the issue is likely after the safety switch. This assumes the switch is functional).

Good luck.

Some diagrams of the ignition switch and starter circuits may be helpful...

Thanks for the help guys, it ended up being that when i spliced a couple wires together two of them had a bare spot and were touching, once i wrapped them up the car started perfect :bang:
