starting problem on 2000 4.6

hi, i got a 2000 model and it has started doing this for a week. when the car sits a few hours or over night and i go to start it. it sputters and dies. it will do this 10 times unless i pump the accellerater when it cranks. it smells like it is rich when it does start. i have no check engine lights on and it has a new fuel filter. i am thinking that some of theh injectors are leaking down into the cylinder. what is this.

Could possibly be the IAC. Take it off and clean it with carb cleaner. If it starts up, you need a new Motorcraft IAC. Cleaning it is only temporary.

clean MAF sensor first and see if that doesn't correct it.
