Starting problem

Ok the low down.

I have a 68 302 J series, just had the carb replaced about 5 months ago about 2 weeks ago the car started having cold start issues where it would take a minute to get it to turn over. Now it is always having problems turning over and about 1 in 4 times when it starts the idle is way off and almost seems it jumped time. I you drop it in gear and drive the idle fixes itself instantly. Anyone got an idea what is causing this?

Have you checked your vacuum hoses? Check vacuum and timing. If both are correct then you might have 2 unrelated issues, one with the starting system and one probably with the fuel system.

this actually sounds like a choke issue, with a possible fast idle adjustment. carburetors constantly need adjustment, especially when the weather changes.
