Against the 700hp NA pump gas 347 in Big Red. I'll love it all day long.

I say don't worry about what anybody say's about a newer LS1 against a vitage 5.0. Let the 2011 5.0 deal with it and just love your 5.0. Racing belongs on the 1/4 anyway, not the street.

no there is a big difference between the LS swap guys and those old dudes that put a 350 in a old hot rod. The difference is that the 350 swap guys do it cause its cheaper and you can practically crap parts for a SBC, now heres the kicker, the LS swap guys do it cause it can be an afforable way to go fast. you can go 9's N/A on a stock bottom end if its done right and you put the motor in the right chassis.

i have done quite a bit of research on putting an LS motor in my fox. the crazy thing about these motors is that if you pick the correct version and the correct year they are making 400 ponies, bone stock. throw on a set of FACTORY heads, and FACTORY intake and aftermarket cam they are churning out 550+ hp. a couple of the things that scare me about this type of project is there are a lot of "incidentals" that have to be changed. clutch pedal asssembly, dash gauges, trans/clutch/flywheel, trans tunnel modification to make shifter fit, etc etc. BUT, they make a TON of streetable, driveable and probably smog legal HP. i haven't ruled out this combo yet.

I'm talking about Jay Allen's 347. I guess I assumed your the same 90lxcoupe on that small block ford tech website that I can't type on this website.

that was on an engine dyno, and it was damn near 9k rpms, nothing an LS couldnt do easily, and i'd have no issue racing against that engine, 2nd lap of the road course he'd be spitting parts out

there are other threads discussing it, but to spend 35 grand to own a car that only goes 12.6, thats rear end resembles a VW bug, and that weighs a bajillion pounds to me is pretty stupid. Fox > S197 (.)

Well, what does a car bought in the 1990 equal in today's money? My sticker price was $14,686 for an LX Sport. Keep in mind that things double in price generally every 20 years. I know it's "cool" to think fox bodies are something special, and they are to an extent. But, by your standards I should of never bought my super duper foxbody.

I effing love all foxes, I'm hoping that this isn't directed toward me. All I meant by what I posted earlier was that I didn't understand how the fox compares to the new 5.0, performance-wise. put all cars EVER MADE in a line-up, and the fox is right up there next to the BMW Isetta.

modify what you like and drive it.

if you play the what car is faster and designed better, for the love of god dont settle on an ls1/lt1 car. fast out of the box, yes, faster with a cam, yes, but there are many cars out there that are fast from factory and you can squeak power out of easily.

as someone mentioned before foxes are not expensive. period. if you think modifying a fox is expensive your retarded.

everything has its problems. ls1 cars have to deal with their terrible 10 bolt rear end.

same with trucks. my f150 might have the breaking spark plug and plastic window regulators, but is that that bad compared to Toyotas non boxed frame and rust issues? or chevys very plastic feeling dash and 10 bolt rear end...

our biggest problems is the ash tray door (fixed with a junkyard) and stupid crap like that. even if you have to swap in an electric fan, maybe a 3g alt. and if you want it fast heaven forbid you buy a b cam for 160 bucks, an explorer intake for less than 150, and a set of gt40p heads for less than 400 or whatever those things go for, and actually take your time to nut and bolt it and make sure you get it to hook, set it all up right, then you have a decently fast car.

if your looking to buy a pony car, slap a couple parts on it and crank out 12s with working ac and no interior rattles. dont buy a fox. truth.

but if you do enjoy driving them, and you find a solid no rust fox for less than 4 grand, and you plan on spending 2 or 3 grand on it and working on it while learning, a fox is for you.

if you get tired of nut and bolting a fox in search of reliable speed, then go get a corvette or something newer and make payments each month
