stay with 3:55 or go 4:10

never fear the 4.10 gear. Get the 4.10's and just have the computer reflashed to correct the gear ratio.

Definately change the gears, 4.10s or 4.30s like CottonBurnerz said, and that Mach will scream!!!

if you change them , ill give you 50 bucks for the 3.55s , friend on mine has a fox body we are building on a budget , and i mean LOW dollar budget , 2.73s have to go

Just a thought, I barely have traction with my stock gears, so going to something like 4.10s + will make launching even more of a task, so you might want stickier tires too but, a fair amount of Mach owners who have used DRs have broken an axle and need to upgrade their rear which is a lot of $$$.

That being said, I loved 4.10s in my GT, they are sitting in my bedroom right now, I'm debating on having them installed on my Mach. :D

I have a Mach also & have been dabating for a couple weeks getting either 4.10s or 4.30s installed. It'll be a future mod, definetely if I ever do it. But I want to beef up w/ rear-end @ the same time w/ either some 31 or 33-splines & other stuff.

If you have an auto then you don't have more rpm's than a 2v. If you have a 5spd then you do have more of an rpm range and you should go with 4.10's or 4.30's maybe. I love my 4.10's and would have been really disappointed if I went with anything less. I also have a speedcal that is really easy to set and can even adjust for different tire sized, but only works for a 5spd.

my car is a 5spd. also, i am 21 and dont have a lot of excess moneyto burn, so how common is it to blow a rearend out with the 4:10's?
Its not.

If you dont beat the crap out of the car you are extending the life of the drivetrain with the higher ratio gears simply because it is easier for the engine to get the car moving.

AT LEAST 4.10's! With a 4v 5 speed, I would SERIOUSLY consider 4.30's since you got that big rev limiter to enjoy.

Awesome opportunity to build the rear end while you're at it. 31 spline eaton limited slip and moser/strange/whatever axles. Weld the torque boxes and axle tubes.......high rpm clutch dumps onto slicks for you.

Oh yeah, TKO tranny and nice clutch too. Then some better control arms and.........

:D

If my car had 355's I would just leave them in and be :D . I would not do that jump to 410's unless all you are doing is 1/4 mile runs and city driving. I really think 373's are the best over all gears for daily driving and performance. But changing from 355's to 373's would not do much. But if you installed some drags in the back and installed 410's you would love that launch. I would not do it though unless I had a six speed :D

Maybe a waste if you have the RPM range of a 4v. They can get away with 4.30's.

Do NOT fear 4.10's for highway driving. I love being on the highways, the ride is fine, and I don't burn fuel like a fighter jet. An aluminum driveshaft makes a HUGE difference, especially with taller gears since you're revving higher.

Don't waste your money on 4.10's, go with 4.30's.

I have to agree with RedGTvert here. Anything less than 4.30's in a serious 4v car would be a waste. Just my opinion. If the Mach 1's have a 7k rev-limiter like the Cobra's, Ide go with 4.56 gears. No doubt in my mind.
