i bought them used and the seller said it was for the 2002 up as well.. Turns out he was wrong. with my 2002 GT with larger waterpump pulley the steeda waterpump pulley didn't fit. (obviously) what i had done was installed Steeda alt. pulley and steeda crank pulley. (only reason i paid for install is i have no tools). The only change that had to be done was a shorter serpentine belt of 1 1/2 inch to compensate. My question will my alt pulley be overspinning and burn out because of this? Thanks so much

the water pump pulley will not make the alternator change speed.

no, your crank pulley and alt pulley size are the only thing factored into the speed that the alt spins.

it will actually increase the time the alt spins. The Alt pulley size doesn't change from stock to aftermarket. The water pump and Crank Pulley are the ones that do. The Crank pulley decreases in size so that the crank gets more RPM per fan belt rotation. In order to make up for the decrease in the Crank pump, the water pump pulley increases so it has less RPM per fan belt rotation.

What you did was instead of increasing the water pump pulley size to compensate for the decrease in the crank pulley you just shortened the belt. So now with the decrease in the belt size the Alt pulley RPM will increase. However, this small increase should not effect you.

alright, well as long as it won't effect it in a bad way.. I'll have to buy the steeda waterpump separately from steeda. Thanks.

edit: btw, i compared the stock alt. pulley and steeda alt. pulley. The steeda is definitely bigger. so maybe it's not over spinning.

kappa...i got pulleys recently too, i never really cared for them but now my car idles and revs much smoother. i am happy.

just call steeda, they will sell you the correct pulley for like 30 bucks. it is very easy to change too, just get a socket wrench and 10 mm socket, itll take you 20 minutes tops.

53bigdog-we have electric fans(not belt driven)
