steel pulleys vs aluminum

i can get some steel pulleys almost new for 55 bucks or are the aluminum that much better that i should buy them instead. thanks

Aluminum.

Less mass, robs less energy to spin.

Aluminum ones are lighter. They will have less rotational mass than the heavier steel ones, which can only help with underdriving the accessories.

I'd say aluminum if you have the extra 30 or 40 bucks

I say alumimum. Rotational weight is the worse weight there is.

good topic, was wondering the same thing. i heard that aluminum pullies warp, unlike steel. less density=less strengh???

Aluminum pulleys would be good yes, and of course they're lighter, but I highly doubt you would notice a difference between the two though......in either case, you would definitly notice a difference from the stock pulleys.

Crappy pullies will warp, either steel or alumimum. I haven't scene a single tread on stangnet about a warped pulley unless something else went wrong first.
