Steering Column Rebuild?

I've kinda posted this question over in talk, but I really need it addressed as a technical question here.

I have a tilt column that appears to need a new bearing right behind the steering wheel. The bearing is sloppy, and it squeaks like mad. Can the tilt part of the column be disassembled to allow me to get at that bearing. I saw the tech article on mustang central, but it didn't detail taking the column apart at that point.

I realize that I could just get another column, but that is just a matter of time till I have to deal w/ this again.

I researched this forum, this is not the first time the question was posed, but there seems to be no solution to the problem.
