I am removing my brake pedal and support bracket in order to install a mustangsteve power brake booster on my 65 coupe (automatic).
I need to remove the steering column support bracket in order to remove the pedal support.
What happens to the steering wheel column when this is removed?
Will the column drop?

The support bracket merely holds the column against the dash. Back off the 2 nuts on either side of it to remove the bracket. When you remove the bracket, the column many drop down an inch or 2 but otherwise will not go anywhere. There will also be a smaller upper bracket on top of the column that may drop down too. Pay attention to the direction that the bottom bracket fits as it has a small tab that must be aligned when reassembled. You have a 50% chance anyways so it really isn't anything to worry about.

I removed the bracket, and the column fell maybe a half inch. There were no issues with the column.
To remove the pedal support, I had to remove the instrument cluster.
I did this by first removing the parking brake bracket, then sticking my hand behind the cluster and unscrewing the cable. Then I was able to pull the cluster forward enough to remove the bulbs, boots and pins.
