i have a lot of play in my steering wheel. once you get above 60 it gets very hard to deal with. i've done some searches on here and even refered back to my shop manual but its all a little confusing to me. i've figured out its either with the steering box adjustments or the control valve. how do i go about adjusting the steering box?

With power assisted steering, run motor and work steering wheel back and forth till you have the wheels straight and centered, shut motor down.

Loosen top jambnut on steering box on slotted screw for adjusting wormgear.
tighten screw till you feel a Slight resistance and back it off about a eighth of a turn. (you don't want it too tight or it will bind) hold this setting while locking the jambnut down.

Start motor and work steering wheel just slightly and watch the tire movement. if it is close they will move with minor steeringwheel turn.

If the control valve is out of adjustment there is a setting screw under the cap on the end of the control unit.
It holds pressure against the ballstud that your pitman are attaches to.
too much pressure on it will cause the oversteer in the power assist.
too little and it will take more steering wheel motion to get it to activate the assist.
