hey guys, I have a huge amount of play in my 95 mustang gt steering wheel. I am rebuilding the whole front end. I already have control arms, springs, shocks, and outer tierods, and sway bar. What else am I needing for the front end. Also what do I need from the outer tierods to the steering wheel. thanks in advance guys.

You'll want to do some diagnostics before just throwing parts at things.

A rag joint is the universal joint in the steering shaft.

Have someone turn the steering wheel in the 'slop' zone while you look at the steering shaft as it goes into the rack. If the person is turning the wheel but the shaft doesn't move, the issue is from the shaft up (towards the wheel).

If the shaft moves almost one-to-one with the wheel movement, jack up the front end and look for slop in each wheel (while pushing and pulling at 3 and 9 o'clock at the tire). Slop can be a worn outer, inner or the rack gears themselves.

You'll probably have a mix of all slops. Rack bushings can also cause some vagueness and slop. Replace them while you do your other stuff (they take 10 minutes to swap out and are cheap).

alright guys, I stuck my wife in the drivers seat and had her shack the steering wheel while I check the rack and steering shaft. The steering shaft moves alittle more than the wheel does but the right were the shaft and the rack meet there is a clicking noise. were do I go from here? O ya this is our family weekend, lets go to the beach and car shows car. So I want to do everything right and not leave out on any details.
