hey guys.
My car was in an accident about a year ago, just after i had gotten done putting on my exhaust, cold air, etc. etc. etc... the NIGHT after i got done with it all. Anyways, it's now started and running with everything ready to go with a turbo. Yes, i fixed up a totalled car. AND built it up with a turbo. pretty sweet, eh?
Here's my latest problem...
My steering wheel got kicked sideways slightly when the airbag went off. I'm pretty sure it's not the steering because nothing got bent out of shape any further than the shocktower. It still drove straight without a problem, although, it's not like i took it on any road trip or anything, just down the alley and into the garage, where it has slept like a baby until last night, woo hooo!!!
So how do i straighten it out? I see the four bolts, but could it be that the brackets themselves got bent? Do i need to detatch the steering column rod and then adjust it? The encasing with the tilt, key, wipers, etc. is straight, but the steering wheel sits about 1/4" angled. I didn't even notice it until my wife told me about it.
Thanks
Lee

mine is cocked to the left about that much too, i noticed it when i bought it but it doesnt bother me too much, i dont know why its like that, maybe the airbag deployd sometime and cocked it like that?

lol, well, it's not just the wheel. If i would put another wheel on there, it would be cocked to the side as well. The shaft that it sits on is sitting crooked. That's why i'd like to fix it. I'm thinking that the airbag just moved the mounting plates to the side, which is why aligning it with the bolts doesn't work all that well. I"ll play with it this weekend. I'd like to take it around the block by next week with headlights, and all that running too. ALMOST THERE!!!
