This has been bugging me for a while my steering wheel shakes when I'm between 45 -55 mph I'm not kidding it stops right after 55 mph or if I go under 45 mph but the ride is smooth the steering just shakes .The aligment is dead on the tires are new and balanced the tie rods were checked and everything was fine.I suspect the rack and pinion but since it only does it between that mile range which is really strange .Has anyone had this issue before or similiar to it I did it alittle when I got the car but as the miles rack up its doing it more.

When did it start? I have heard of tires throwing a cord when they were not made right and giving these issues...

Have you checked the contistion of your entire front end? Ball joints, a-arm bushings, inner/outer tie rod ends... Something is allowing your front tires to wobble at these speeds.... Heck it could even be a bad strut...
Everything is tight which is weird one of the struts could be bad .I notice weird tire wear on one side .But the thing is it does it when I hold the wheel at those speeds when I release it,it does shake and the car doesnt shake or vibrate when the steering wheel shakes my passangers dont feel anything.

I had the same issue, a new set of front tires took care of it. The inside of the front tires was worn from me not running C/C plates for awhile. I'd look at that before getting into anything else.

Tires are three months old they were balanced and the car aligned the old ones had wear on the inside .I took it to another guy and he said its possibly the rack and pinion here is how we found a issue .I took someone with me with another car and was looking at the front wheels at the speed the steering wheel starts to shake and they didnt do anything until I did a right turn the left side jerked a little bit.We checked everything again and we found when I twist the wheel to the right there was alot of play in the rack on pinion not on the inner tierod which it didnt do when the wheels were straight.I will replace it anyways since I also want to get rid of the dead spot in the steering. Just to throw this out there, I had this same issue, but mine would go away after around 50mph and come back around at around 70. When I swapped my Cobra front brakes on, the issue disappeared completely, so I can only guess that my problem was warped brake rotors. I never felt it transfer through the pedal, but it was enough to cause my steering wheel to shake. I'd say check the runout on your rotors while you're at it, so you're not just throwing parts at it. It's free to do.

I DID GET THEM ROAD FORCE BALANCED.
Its not the wheels they balanced them twice with the same results the wheels were checked by two different tire shops and they only added one weight thats how truely round they are and I did the tire rotation with the same result so its not the wheels .And it was the rack and pinion I solved this annoying problem this weekend .Thanks for the input

Do you have stock wheels or aftermarket? If there stock check to see if any of them are bent, or cracked. If there aftermarket check to see if they have hub rings (hubcentric rings), They are small rings that go inside the hub on aftermarket wheels, there purpose is to make the hub fit tight to the rim so you do not get a vibration. Wheel companies make the same style rim for many different cars, so they make the hub in a diameter that will accept different cars, it's usually just MM off but it makes a big difference.
The wheels are aftermarket they are 18 " chrome cobra R wheels I had them for a while .It had been doing the wheel shake since I got the car with the stock cobra rims it wasnt as bad is it was before I changed the rack and pinion I did that this weekend AND THE SHAKE IS GONE
