Steering wheel shakes when brake is applied

Everytime I step on my brake pedal, the steering wheel starts to shake.
Anyone else have this problem? What is wrong and what's the fix?

Could be a warped rotor.

+1 on that could be a warped rotor and check you rbrake pads while your at it

The whole rear brake assemblies are brand new.
A few weeks ago the rear brakes locked on me. I don't know why and how. I was exiting the freeway and I heard some grinding noise. Warranty took care of it, but that still didn't solve the shaking problems.

Upgrades? The car only has about 55,000 miles. 3/4 of those are freeway miles. Are these cars that cheaply made?

My did the same thing when I switch to ceramic pads. Now I have new rotors and motorcraft pads.

Will my warrantly cover this problem with warped rotors? I bought the bought the premium protection plan, and still have a 3 years on it.

I say warped rotors too.

Get a Cobra front brake upgrade, $350 + about 2 hours.

Also watch shops that use just air guns with no torque stick. If they over tighten your wheels that can cause a rotor to warp, so I am told.

It is not so much as "cheap" as it is "low weight". The rotors are as thin as they can be, to save on unsprung weight.

Even brand new rotors can be warped if the lug nuts aren't properly torqued.

and because they're cheaper to produce and build the car with. That way you can pay less up front, but maintenance costs are higher over the life of the car.

the rotors can also get warped from heavy braking from higher speeds like quick stops on the freeway. Mine warped @60k so I put on some powerslots and that cured the problem. Now i have the Cobra brake package and can't say enough good things about that upgrade.

+774849995 for warped rotor

they can warp pretty easily, especially the stockers. if you happen to hit the brakes hard in the rain, they can warp very easily from that. (the brake rotors are very hot and the rain cools them very very quickly, so any strong pressure i.e. braking can cause a crack or a warp)

warranty should cover them, or just upgrade them to brembos for ~$200
