I was on Ford.com and was just playing around building a Mustang. I got to the audio section and it the Mustang comes standard with the Mach 460 stereo, right? Well, I noticed an option for a "Mach 1000", what the hell is a "Mach 1000"? What is the difference in the two stereo systems? The numbers after the word "Mach" does not denote wattage, right? How would one go about upgrading to the "Mach 1000"? Is there even a difference? Thanks in advance!!

Mach1000 is everything the 460 has but it has an amp rack in the trunk with 4(?) amps and 2 10" subwoofers. I test drove a 03 with it and it sounded good for any OEM components but I would recommend just getting the 460 or nothing at all if you want to add your own system. My 1 12" does better than the 2 10" subs that Ford uses. Also, the amp rack takes up almost the entire trunk area. If you don't want to add your own system then by all means go with the 1000 but don't expect really any trunk room. Good luck on the spare tire too :~)

If I ever buy new again, I'll go without the Mach system. Ripped mine out anyway. And the 1000 does refer to the total wattage of the system. Mach460 had 460 total.

Thanks guys for the input.....JonJon, your photo helped me decide alot better on what to do. I take it your car is not convertible? All that excess stuff in the trunk and the limited space on a convertible......I don't think that would work for me. I guess I am going to have to go aftermarket If I am going aftermarket though....I am going DVD and all!!!

I looked at a 03 vert w/ the mach 1000 before I bought mine w/ the in dash 6 disk changer. I have barely enough trunk space for two small suitcases. With the mach 1000 trunk, you'd have to cut the body up into small pieces to make it fit.
