Today I had a stereo installed at circuit city and it turns on and seems to function fine. When I bought the car it had no speakers, and all of the wiring to the stereo was unhooked, the amp for premium sound is gone also. I have three harnesses comming out that the guy didnt hook up correctly because I dont have any sound comming from my speakers. One is long with wires all in a line (purp/wt ,wt/red ,ltblue ,grn ,blk/white).

There is another with 6 in a 3on3. Wt/ltgrn, pink/ltgreen, 2pink/ltblue, org/ltgreen, ltblue/white

one last one with 8
big red, big yellow, orange/ltblue, green, wt/red, purp/wt, ltblue, [black/white

If someone could please help me figure out what all of this is that would be great, the stereo has power i just need to figure out how to deal with the amp thing and what goes to what. Thanks for your help. It is an 89 GT w/ premium sound if that helps, thanks!

i Figured out what some of the wires do but that leaves about 12 of them I dont know.

Find the 8 wires coming out for the speakers and use a 9 volt battery to figure out which wires are for which speakers (grab one wire and put it on the positive side and try the rest on the other until you hear it make a sound). Label the wires and fool around with your balance and fade to get the speakers and head unit to match.

This is all assuming your dealing with bare wires. I found this to be the easiest and best way. My connectors were all messed up.

most of the time, red is positive, yellow is constant power which will be wired to seomthing that its hot all the time, so it will keep its memory. Orange is usually illumination, hook that into the dash dimmer. Blue is usually remote, which turns urs amps on and off when you turn yur radio on. hope this helps.....

These are the wires coming from the actual head unit. The wires in the car are not the same.....for me none of the above mentioned wires collated with the head unit. I just had to figure it out by using the head unit installed before I owned the car. I'll try to find the notebook I used to write everything down but don't get your hopes up....I think I threw it away.
