Hey guys,

I've tried finding a definitive answer on this but no luck yet! My question is, I am going to put a set of 5 lug Stern Wheels on my 91 LX. My question is, of all the aftermarket conversion kits on the market to convert a fox from 4 lug to 5 lug disc, what would you recommend for the Stern wheel setup? I believe the wheels are 17x8(front) and 17x9(rear). I would like to keep this conversion as affordable as possible!

Thanks!

TTT

I guess I just wanted to know what size front and rear discs these guys would take and what they would come from?

Are the Factory Saleen wheels??

If so, the fronts will fit the Mark 7 rotor setup. If you have the rims now, just go to autozone and buy a rotor and mount it up and then return it.

The offset is unique to saleens for the rear. The Saleens use the SVO/Mark 7 rear disk setup which is wider by 1.25" each side. Saleen had to use unique offset rears to make this work. Mounting them on a 5-lug drum setup might cause rubbing on the inside.

Do you have the rims yet? Can you measure backspacing?? Place a stick over the backside of the rim hub and measure distance from mounting flange to the stick

Yeah, they are factory Saleen wheels. I belive the fronts are 17x7.5 and rear are 17x8.5. Backspacing......I honestly do not know about the backspacking! Guess I'll try and figure out how to get that.

I think Mike pretty much answered your question. Since they are real Saleen wheels, front and back, you really need to use the complete Mark VII or SVO Mustang rear end setup. For the fronts, you can use the Mark VII disc or upgrade to the SN94 spindle and rotors, up to the 13" Cobra brakes. But since you want to keep it reasonable, you can stick with the Mark VII. Hopefully you have some salvage yards by you. I can get locally a complete Mark VII setup front and back for less than $200 at our Pick a Part places. But expect to pay more if you have a yard pull it. Try looking on www.car-part.com for a Mark VII rear end assembly and you might get lucky. Have you looked at Matt's brake website? http://svo73mm.cjb.net
He has the info on MC and PV and ebrake issues.

Good luck!

Thomas

Fronts will work with the Mark rotors, but out back your rear wheels will be sucked in pretty well. You'll need spacers. Proper offset would be 1.25" spacers each side, but i don't think anyone makes a spacer than big that's safe. I personally wouldn't run 1.25" spacers anyway.

You might get away with a SN95 rear conversion since it pushes the wheel out 0.75"

You might as well do it right and go Sn95 all around then

If you run hub-centric spacers in 1.00"-1.25" thickness you are 100% fine. Many 4.6 guys are running the 1.00" spacers on their cars with zero problems. Some are running 1.25" too.
