sticky door lock

my car was sitting for a while with the doors locked, and now the passenger door will not lock or unlock by pressing the button. it moves freely when i pull the lever or press the lock down though. what can i do to fix this?? thanks

Mine has been doing the same thing..Except, mine doesnt have to sit for very long..I have to push the "lock" "unlock" buttons a few times.

i was kinda thinking that, but when i press the button, the knob or w/e moves up or down slightly. a mechanic told me to check if the rod or any part of the mechanism is rusted at all or has any crap on it. but maybe the solonoid is going out and cant exert enough force to move the lock. any way i cant test the ideas??

you need to remove the door panels, after that you may see the problem. Not a hard fix.
