BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Is all i have to say!!!!

I recently posted about 1 month ago about an issue I was having with my mustang..

Cannot find the original one so kinda reposting the update with the shop!

The issue car does not move when in gear.. thought maybe the clutch was shot..

Shop does this..

They replace everything that has to do with the clutch.. "Clutch,TOB,Pressure plate an refaced the fly-wheel" took them almost 1 week after they recieved the parts for this!.

-They call me after its complete and tell me that the car still doesnt move they think it might be a tran's issue.."

-SO I PAY FOR THE TRANS TO GET INSPECTED.. guess what? ITS PERFECTLY FINE

So now im totally bugged out I havent had my baby in almost 1month 4 days and im worried!!

-Anyone have an idea of what could be possibly causing this???

-95 Mustang GT with a T-5 Transmission

-Reason why I ask is im sick of getting of this shop an they keep giving me the run-around!!

Thanks all

I'd make sure they did everything right. Make sure the clutch is engaging/disengaging.

is the driveshaft turning at all?

any abnormal sounds?

maybe something's screwed in the rear-end

So im totally lost really wish they knew what was going on..

forgot to mention the drive-shaft is brand new.. the gears are brand new too

hmmm...does it rev freely?

with the car cranked can you actually put it into first gear? If you can, then I'd say that the clutch and other parts are doing their job and I'd be looking at either a faulty transmission diagnosis or maybe your driveshaft wasn't properly installed (kind of a longshot there)

when it comes to drivetrain problems, I like to start at the front and work my way back. If everything is good with the clutch assembly, then the transmission and everything behind it is at fault. If the transmission checks out good, then maybe it's the driveshaft/rear end. If the driveshaft turns but the car doesn't move..then chances are it's in the rear-end. Just process of elimination.

While you're at the shop, have them put it on a lift and watch to see what's happening (clutch engaging/disengaging, driveshaft turning, wheels turning, etc.)

good luck with the car

Im always on the road.. for work so its hard to work on it myself as my shoptools n so forth are in Michigan.. But working in Arizona so its hard... An also when the car is up on the lift an it goes into gears fine but when the clutch is released it just sits at IDLE doesnt move at all.. so the driveshaft isnt even turning

Its wierd really but the transmission was completely torn apart and put back together showing there isnt any issues with that.. Just honestly a pain in the ass and ya

For those following, here's his original thread:

http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=709492

What happens when you put the clutch in, put it in gear and let the clutch out? Does the car start to load up or try to stall?

If you put the car in 1st gear and try to push it (with the car off), does it roll nice and easy?

that's just weird.

if the clutch is doing what it's supposed to, and you can put the transmission in gear....and it still just sits at idle (and the tranny has been inspected)....my money would be on something not installed correctly.

I'm sorry I can't help you out more...I'm out of ideas.

Just keep us updated

Thanks for finding the original Hissin50!

Well when the car is put into gear.. and the clutch is disengaged it just sits at idle.. an you can move the car by pushing it easy! So i mean the original clutch was perfectly fine I guess to what he had said.. SO im lost I have no clue what it could be unless my cable is screwed somewhere underneath the plastic casing =/

If you have or can get a little bit of freeplay on your clutch cable (to ensure that there is no preload or partial disengaging of the clutch), it sure sounds like a trans issue (considering you replaced the clutch). Did you happen to get your old parts for inspection?

I'm sure the morning crew will have some ideas. I'm fallin asleep here.

Good luck.

If your cable was jacked then the tranny would not be able to engauge the gear. This is a really wierd problem. have your tried putting it into other gears. Starting with 2nd 3rd 4th 5th. See if it stalls or moves in any of those gears.

Well, everything is a mechanical link, somewhere there's something out of adjustment or broken... Do you feel the trans 'detent' into each gear if you shift it without the engine even running? If you don't, then it's an internal problem most likely. I have no other ideas, but good luck!!!

Have you taken the dust cover off to check the action on the cable?

I just talked to the shop.. The owner is going to check the clutch assembly again just to see if it was a mechanical issue. Also hes going to trace everything to do with the clutch.

It just seems like the clutch isnt disengaging at all.. When the car is off it shifts smoothly as it does when its running.. Just doesnt move seems to be stuck in Neutral... So hopefully its a cable issue it seemed to be worn before this happened.. Wasnt able to adjust it anymore and it was loose

Oh yea I forgot to mention this too! Around 1 month prior to all of this happening.. It seemed that when I punched the gas that my car was getting held back like the clutch was saying no way im not letting go! An I couldnt even get a good burnout in 1st gear.. an My motor is nowhere near stock either =/

I still dont understand how your new clutch would leave you with the same symptoms as the old one did. Plus your old cable and linkage worked fine at some point, so the clutch should be engaging.

I think you covered it, but this acts the same in 4th gear too, right (specifically 4th gear)?

it sounds like you granaded the tranny it probably has a broken shift fork or something else is broken inside of it since its not the clutch its definately inside the trans

The transmission was took apart and inspected from A-Z an there was no signs of any issues within the transmission.. So I would imagine thats not an issue.. also only has 29k on the tranny too

4th gear same thing.. just goes into gear an nothing

Maybe something is wrong with the shifter itself?
