Sorry to hear about your motor man, I bet it'll run good once you get all that new stuff in and get a dyno tune tho

This should be your lesson learned. Never push it until you know the tune is right. Now you will be able to make 500+ hp. You should also invest in a wideband o2. That way you will allways know where your a/f is. Good luck with the new build.

sucks man... from what ive heard, turbos are hard enough to dyno tune, and trying to use a mail order tune is just asking for trouble. a while back someone said they had their turbo setup dyno tuned perfectly, but once they hit the streets their A/F ratios went all over the place, hence why you need a handheld tuner to make adjustments on the street.

re read my original post.. I ran the car the way it was, because I was confident in the MODULAR DEPOT tune.. Aperently the tune was WAY off, and extremely lean. I am positive it was not a mechanical failure on my part.

Crappy thing is, I wouldnt trust anyone local to tune it, so that means finding a trailer and bringing the car up to Modular Powerhouse ( same folks I'm buying the shortblock from) and have Tim, or who ever is in charge of tuning, to street tune the car, if possible.. That's the only true way to tune this car, from what I've gathered. Should be a tad cheaper now that I have the X cal programmer, and just need dyno time.

The car with this turbo setup had massive torque down low, as it started to hit boost at 1800-2k rpm.

No need to get a trailer, just keep your foot out of the oil pan until you have it tuned up. Boost it the killer, so as long as you stay out of it in the mean time, you'll be fine.

because i know what the hell i'm talking about. i ran 9psi on my stock block just fine and i beat the hell out of it. go to modularpowerhouse and see how many cars are running 380-420rwhp with the stock bottom end. some for 20-30k miles. if you stay within the power limits of the stock internals and have a good tune, it's not a problem. everyone knows the limits of the stock shortblock, if he exceeded that, that's HIS MISTAKE. if he drove it any way other than babying it before checking the a/f ratio guess what, IT'S HIS MISTAKE.

I agree,I've been running 455rwhp (dyno'd) with a good tune on the street and 482rwhp on 110 octane with aftercooler at the track with a stock bottom end for 1 1/2 years now. I do realize and expect that the motor WILL fail running this kind of power. I am shocked about how long this thing has held together running consistant low 11's at the track being hammared on.
