If you weigh 65 lbs I can see where you're getting some of your weight reductions from.

Anyway, just to prove you wrong I went through the trouble of doing a search and here's the weight of a 1995 Mustang GTS.

3280 LBS !!!!! Minus your 40 lb's for heads and what does that work out to ? Hmmm ... I wonder.

curb weights arent always correct on that.

I have seen them posted at 3180 3250 and 3280 depending on the article source.

what you are npot understanding is you need to TAKE $HIT OFF YOUR CAR so you arent so DAMN SLOW

13.66 @ 104.6 mph with a 2.2 60 ft on street tires with a car running at 10.1:1 AF (WOT 3000 rpm and up) at 3500 lb's completely untuned doesn't seem all that slow to me.

I think we all understand that Snooz. What we're trying to figure out is why our cars have a roughly 100# difference off the showroom floor. Now you are claiming the least weight (3180# if I recall) and so naturally we're going to question it to find out why ours are heavier.

Ordinarilly, I wouldn't think twice as 100# can be made up in a lot of places, but I'm under the impression that my GTS came in the lightest configuration there was (with the exception of getting a special factory delete of the A/C and radio). Just to make sure we're all on the same page (i.e. not comparing AOD to T5 cars), this is what mine was optioned/non-optioned with:

95 Mustang GTS
T5
A/C
Manual Windows
Manual Locks
No Rear Defrost
Manual Cloth Seats (front and rear)
No Cruise Control
No ABS
No Spoiler
AM/FM Cassette (no CD/Mach 460)

I think that's about it but I may be missing one or two little things. Also, at the time I had a stainless steel Bassani catback (maybe a couple pounds heavier than stock but I doubt it; the stock stuff is heavy as hell) and that heavy as hell (2-3 ounces?) intake silencer removed.

Now when I weighed it, it was in the exact same configuration and still had the floormats, jack and spare, along with the trunk floor panel. Basically all that stuff people take out before racing, I left in. All that and 2.5 gallons of fuel tipped the certified military scales at 3260#. That was without me in the car as well.

Note: The military scale was used for people doing their own moves from base to base. If you move yourself (as opposed to using a moving service) the gov't will pay you based on the weight you have. Having scales that are not reading accurately would cost them tons of money every year so I'm confident that they're as accurate as it gets.

With that said, it's been my experience that the scales at the track always read a little low. Honestly, I can't ever remember seeing a weight from the track that looked right.

But regardless of the scale issue, can you see any reason why our cars may weigh so much different? I'm looking for the solution to this problem here, nothing more.

pull off the fenders and hood, the rear decklid and the entire dash........why not?

well aparently there are some variations.

we had 2 peopel here that weighed in at 3270 3280 ish with full tank.

that would go with what i say.

then you and mto weigh in where you are...

guess we are just luck and we should leave it at.

oh and yes 13s at 104 IS slow

and as i have said before. tune your car, take out the hidden weight, learn to launch on street tires and or get "tire" get a real cam..... and go get the badass numbers that your combo should make. you should go low 12s easily.

the luck was a joke.

my car has never had a spare and jack in it nor a strut tower brace.

with that my current mods and stereo system, it was 3240 forever. i was tired of trapping 101-102 and begin my gradual weight reduction.
I eventually got the car down to a normal weight of 3080.

I honestly believe the scale was off just by a few the 3215 night. Or maybe just extremely low gas. I weighed in at 155 myself that day before i was lifting every day in the gym and went back to 165.

I went from trapping 101-102 to 104-105 from merely dropping weight and the shortblock losening up a little.

highest trap is 105.7

you have to understand I am serious about getting every tenth of mph out of my car and I run as low as possible on gas.

That kind of defeats the purpose of you giving us what your car weighed in as stock then doesn't it? The title of this thread is asking what stock GTS's weigh in at. I personally like my car in one piece. I will not be removing front sway bars etc which will only hurt the performance of my car. My car is a street car and I want to be able to drive it safely. I have removed the STB but only because it wouldn't fit under my new intake. The next time I go to the track I'll try a few runs without my spare and jack but since I don't run the car on the street without my spare I'm not going to overly concern myself with it. The same goes for my rear seat, passenger etc. I see the ricer doing that at the track all the time. A 12 second gutted civic that has no interior doesn't gain much respect me, but that's just my humble opinion, which you'll probably decribe as ignorance.

I have a half a rear seat delete with the bottom cushion in. I carry my 6'6 friends around all the time all over town and it actually creates more room. 4 inches more leg room

Quick butt in here. That intellechoice article is either off or backwards cuz I went ther to check a GT's weight and its listed as 3258 while the GTS is listed as 3280 as mentioned earlier. There is definately something wrong there. I guess the best way would be to ask a ford dealer or something. My friends m3 has curb weight listed in the owners manual but our crap ass manuals dont have that listed. Why the hell would ford leave out that simple piece of info? Thats really annoying to me.

Do you have cats? Do you have a smog pump ? How about an EGR ? Were you on regular street tires to get that 1.78 60 ft? Did you delete your A/C ? Did you delete your front sway bar and countless other safety features ? I remember one comment you made to me in a previous thread. You said "if you have the balls remove the front sway bar".
That's not balls my friend. That's IGNORANCE and stupidity, and you only reinforce that ignorance through insinuating that you need to have big kahoonas. I'm sure you'll come back stating that since you've removed the sway bars there's no noticeable difference yadda yadda, but that's BS. They were put there for a reason. I'm sure you enjoy trying to drive a car that doesn't track properly. That's unsafe to yourself and everyone else on the road.
This is just the public service part of me coming out and an indication of why I charge, and take plates from people with unsafe vehicles.

If you don't have cats, smog pump, EGR and removed a $hit load of weight and ran with slicks well guess what ? You're not in street trim. Street trim is otherwise known as street legal and driving a car that still has all the safety features the factory put it out on the road with. Get off your high horse. sway bar isnt a safety feature... its a handling feature. if a car that handles poorly is unsafe then thast because you dont have the ability to handle the cars handling characteristics. hence the "balls" comment. yeah it handles differently, it handles like a muscle car does, loose. but i dont care because it yanks the front up so hard.

Let me use an anology here.
If a car handles poorly due to the removal of OEM parts that were originally designed by engineers for better handling characteristics, the removal of these parts wouldn't take away from the safe road manners of that particular vehicle ? That wouldn't make it unsafe ? Sounds a little contradictory doesn't it?
In your infinite wisdom you've deemed that this is simply OK as long as you're brave enough (have the balls, as you put it) to think that you can handle that car safely. You drive this car on public roads with substantially important handling components missing from that car, and take it upon yourself to endanger others on the road?

This is your justification to reduce the safe operation of that vehicle.

With your archaic mind set I suppose you think it's safe to ride a motor bike all over town doing wheelies. As long as you can handle that bike there shouldn't be any problems right? Your car would not pass a safety inspection because a handling component has been removed/missing thus making the car unsafe, period.

dog bone remove this! it hurts nothing
trunk carpet and board- i had no choice
rear seat delete- my friends who are 6'- 6'6" are right here and say they prefer the rear of the seat gone. it gives them 3-4 inches more room leg room and depth to the seat. Maybe you shoul look at a rear seat delete before you speak poorly of it.
i am on stock ponies.
floormats and windshield wipers come out at the track. If you are a few ttenths form 12s this will help you. i didnt take these steps to run 12s as I had schoolbookc and all kinds of crap in my car. an extra 25-30 pounds than normal.
drain the fluid out of your windshield wiper fluid reservoir for track trips. its 10 pounds on the very front of the nose.
there are a few little things that add up to only 5 more pounds.
I run on a 1/4 tank or less of gas always.

Drag setups are for the drag strip and street setups are for the street, as per my meaning of that statement in my above posts.
