How much hp and Torque can the stock axles handle? Say if I where to add a blower, any other stock components that need to be upgraded before I destroy my car? lol, Thanks

IMHO, the first thing you should be upgrading if you are going FI is the clutch. I ran through mine w/ 382 ft/lb of tq pretty quick. I think your axels would hold up as long as you dont run slicks and have insane launches. A "tuner" kit for a blower should be fine but, once you go radical, everything will need upgraded IMHO.

axles last as long as your suspension and tires (aka grip) allow them too. You could run 600hp im sure fine just doing burnout's, 270rwhp with grip suspension and 10.5" MT slicks launching at 4k and there goes a axle.

Your axles will be fine. I smoked my diff after tons of 1/4 mile passes making 414RWHP. MY axles were perfect, but I replaced them with 31 splines and a 31 spline diff when I fixed it. I then sold my stock axles for 75 each, so I recouped some money and helped out another stang owner. I would save your money and upgrade the clutch first as said. I've smoked a clutch before, not cool, when you are 25 miles from home.

I too trashed my diff and my axles were perfect. Again it's how much traction you have, not horsepower. I've seen guys with gears and exhaust with a sticky tire twist axles. If you plan on going fast and hooking hard upgrade everything to 31spline.

I have under 300rwhp and snaped my driverside axle at the C clip. I have full drag suspension set up and run on drag radials. Power means nothing when it comes to the rearend lasting its all about how much traction you have.

+1 traction is the biggest issue. M/T ET's would be the worst for breakage because those tires hoooook!!

You can't put a number on what they can handle. I've seen a bone stock Bullitt Mustang snap an axle and then 400RWHP cars launch on slicks and not break.

What kind of suspension setup did you have to run 11.97 with that power? Thats great...what kind of 60 foots did you cut?

I think axles are hit and miss like Bill said.

I have friends launching at 5k with slicks and 4.30s on stock axles cutting 1.6-1.7s and not breaking.

Why doeesnt anyone upgrade to moser 28 spline forged axles?

Why does everyone upgrade to 31 spline?

Why not? Like I said a lot of people break more then just axles, they trash the diff. So might as well upgrade to 31 spline, it's relatively the same price.
