Does anyone know how durable the stock clutch setup is? What's the max torque rating?

It is problably just a Valeo setup if the motor makes 300 horse Ford will put a clutch in it good for 250. I believe there are some on here having problems already.

Good question. I am curious too. Seems like we have several members with Forced Induction. I wonder if they swapped out their clutch assembly when going with the supercharger?

I have a buddie that had Saleen put on one of their s/c. He drove it from SoCal back to NorCal. Took it in to Speedfreeks in Tracy to have a new clutch put in it and the old clutch was already pretty tore up. Anyone running forced induction surley has replaced their clutch.

my clutch went after just two runs with nitrous three months after purchase, when i took the clutch off only the first half inch was actually worn... the mechanic who owns a performance shop was surprised at how crappy the clutch was made...

Reading the above posts, maybe I should plan for a clutch upgrade sooner than I thought.... Mine seems fine though.

It all depends on how you drive your car.

I know guys with stock clutches with 450+ RWHP that run the car hard @ the track. Then I know guys with 280 RWHP that burn through their clutches. It goes both ways.

If your running something like NOS then you will need a clutch upgrade on anything above a 125 shot. Sure it will work for awhile but it will burn out sooner than a SC or Turbo because I said so, hehe

My stock clutch wouldn't hold up to a CAI and a tune at LACR (RIP). I put in a RAM powergrip HP. The pedal is more like a stock 5.0L clutch that is about wornout (they got stiffer as they wore as I remember).

Depends how you abuse your car - and I do mean abuse. My car is supercharged and is driven normally ie smooth take-offs, no powershifting, maximum rev full-bore acceleration as and when required. It's only got 7000 miles on the clock but it's had no problem at all although I've got a SPEC Stage 2 and flywheel in the roof for as and when required.

If you do full-bore runs, drop the clutch and powershift, you should expect the clutch to fail because Ford sell you a car not a drag racer and you shouldn't expect them to fund your own brand of motor sport. Just my £1 worth.

My clutch has 20000 miles and I think it will last another 3/5000
I've made some trackdays , but not accelleration tracks : here the most popular is the challenge format .

When my mech put on the aluminium flywheel 5k miles ago he was surprised how worn was my clutch - he knows mw well and he's a racer too ...

I think I'll go on certerforce or similar very very soon ...

Just 2 eurocents
