How much louder is the Bassani catback and catalytic x pipe combo when being compared to the stock exhaust? What about when the car is just sitting their running? Is the exhaust worth it? Will I see better performance with no other mods?

What year cobra do you have? 03/04?

*The new 03/04s are the ones that really benefit from just swapping out the exhaust - it's downright scary how muchr rwhp/rwtq they pick-up from exhaust. This is not to say that a NA engine will not benefit from a midpipe/catback, because you will still gain power too & the change in sound pitch/tone of the exhaust note is also worth it to some of us.

If you do have an 03/04, look into a CAI as well - feed that engine more air (in addition to the exhaust helping to extract/flow more air out), and then swap out your pulley & chip/tune it - great bang-for-the-buck mods.

IMHO, if you went to a Bassani catback & catted X pipe combo, it wouldn't be significantly louder at idle or even when just casually driving around. The aftermarket cats will help keep things on the quiet side - but once you floor it and go WOT, I would imagine that the exhaust note really comes to life (much like my Magnaflow combo in my sig). It's great and very stealthy - quiet when you want it to be, yet "loud" at the mash of the go-pedal.

Bassani is not loud at Idle louder than stock but not loud. Now when you get on it, ITS LOUD. I've had Bassani on 2 stangs now, I love it. Performance it will open up the exhaust, But add a drop in K&N with out the snorkle and you should put down around 390-410rwhp

I have that set up and I am constantly being asked what exhaust do I have? It has a solid deep sound without being loud.

I had the x pipe bassani with factory cats on on a stock 01 Cobra with minimal difference at idle. At moderate to hard acceleration sound levels where similiar to indy style sound pitch, not deep throated. Sound level was only moderately louder. Disliked the high raspy pitch, changed to h-pipe without cats and flow master 2 chambers and gained much better sound quality, nice deep rumbling sound. The only problem with new set up was the lack of low end torque that the bassani gave.

bassani

I have X pipe and cat back and its great. Sounds good but not loud at idle and loud as hell if you floor it. If you drive around without getting on it, its not loud at all..

As far as gains I was disappointed...

I was one of the few people that did a chip and pulley first. With a 2.80 and superchip tune I ran:

434hp and 460tq and 11.70 on a cool day....

After adding the bassani X and cat back I dynoed with a custom superchip tune:

437hp and 471tq

I did gain about 20lbs TQ down low making it very difficult to launch now without hopping all over the place...kind of sucks..until I relearn how to launch i guess.... cool on the street though

Dont mean to hijack the thread but I would like peoples input on this........

My mechanic says the reason im not getting better results is because my mass air voltage is pegged. He says I need a bigger mass air. Ours is 90mm (i think he said) and a 95mm will allow for more voltage and more air to go through (if I understood him correctly) He says I should run around 470-480 once I get the mass air and CAI. He also says that I wont see gains with just a cold air intake because the mass air voltage is already pegged..

Other people have dissputed the whole mass air thing and say with the K+N kit alone i would get gains... SOme of the people I have met in person though....arent even really sure what they have on their car...or what the shop they went to actually did to get the higher numbers.... They dont know for sure if the shop they went to just slapped a bigger air filter on there or modified the mass air meter.

I have also heard from a reputable source...that after a throttle body install...if you dissconnect the computer and turn the car on and off three times to recycle it i guess...you will see a significant gain in hp...but after you run the car for a while the numbers come back down to a few hp. Has something to do with the computer defaults or something.....and That would explain why some people say they get big gains from a throttle body and others get little or nothing...

WHAT DO YOU THINK????

i got a bassani offread x on my 01 and it sounds great. even at idles its sounds good. starting it up and slowing down in gear is when it sounds the best. i have learned from other people driving my car that it sounds 10X better outside behind the car instead of inside it. worth it if you ask me

Our SVT club held a sound off event. If you want to hear a Bassani X with Bassani Cat back click on "Al" to hear the best sounding exhaust (IMHO)

The recordings are posted here.

Hey help me out here..

"I just Data loged the mass air voltage with the predator And I max out @ 4.6v that was 3 days ago"

What does that mean?

I dont remember what the max voltage is. Also remember I already had a 2.80 upper and now added bassani x and cat back.

Thanks for the info
