i am running what i believe may be the stock 145k mile fuel pump.

ok first off. i had a good time slip i ran a while back with just my stock engine.

STOCK ENGINE (first good run after t5 swap)
2.0 60'
9.1 1/8th mile & 87 mph
14.1 1/4 mile & 99 mph

NEW ENGINE (last nights best)
1.9 60'
9.0 1/8th at 84mph
14.2 1/4 at 95 mph

here are the important parts.

with the new engine i seemed to run a faster 1/8th mile, but then lost power the last half. like it didnt have fuel, since after the 1/8th the rpms are way up where it needs more fuel.

i think the new engine should be running a faster 1/8th and 1/4 all around. according to the slips the new engine is SLOWER than the stocker.

could the stock fuel pump be starving the engine???

another thing...

in the old engine on the 14.1 run, i managed a 2.0 60ft. i launched at a measly 3k and busted the 2.0

last night with the new engine, i had to launched at the rev limiter to get just a 1.9. doesnt seem right. took all the rev the engine had to get a 1.9 when with drag radials i should capable of 1.8s at least with stock suspension...

another thing... i got my adjustable fuel pressure regulator in today. i tinker with it for a bit. people say to set it at around 39 at idle (unplugged and capped vac line) i did this, and it didnt run any different.

i cranked it up some, to around 43 psi, the car seemed to run a little better and eliminted a bucking problem i had at cruising speeds..... this pressure should have been too much for a good setup. but seenmed to help my engine run better.

am i correct in saying my stock fuel pump is choking my motor all around... and be killing it more the last 1/8th of the track???

only really thing i can gather. the engine is running mechanically fine.

i saw a holley 155lph pump for 80$, is this adequate for my combo???

155lph is certianly enough for your combo.Of course,if you upgrade to a supercharger or 347 etc. later it may not be enough. For an extra $10 or $20 you can get a 190 or 255 so why not just get one of those unless you are sure you are done with engine mods.

EDIT: misread the first post initially.

Dave at JD's can do ya a Walbro 155 for ~65 bucks shipped (I think that's what I paid). Steps upward (more LPH) are well-priced as well. He's a top notch guy to deal with too.

Good luck.

While the fuel pressure gauge is on the car, when you rev it up is the pressure dropping? Could be a weak pump, dirty filter or maybe something else. Goodluck man. O btw i would go with a bigger fuel pump if you plan on more upgrades.

i will go witht he 190lph, i am not sure but i may plan a SC later on, not too sure. but it would be better to be ready than have to do it again....

filter isnt that old. i will look at it...

when i rev at idle the presure jumps maybe 1 psi. and its not stready, its more of a shake.

Find out what the ticking is...stock pump should have been fine for your current situation. Did you get the compression #'s? I 'd want to see that too before just throwing money at a assumed problem.
