That's the primary reason I got a new transmission. Old 1st gear was 3.55, new 1st gear is 2.95....
Now, just about any steeper gear change will make 1st gear nearly useless

Actually, probably someone put a GT body kit on a 4 cyl. I have seen a few of those for sale over the years.Somebody went thru the trouble of swapping a 2.3 into a GT for some reason.
3.27 was more common than you thinkjunkyardwarrior said:2.73 3.08 and 3.27 were the only options. 2.73 and 3.08 were most common. Not many 3.27's.
The '92 GT I just bought, the previous owner put in 3.73's and I have the3.27 was more common than you think
