stock head bolts

can you reuse stock head bolts after a head swap? auto zone wants 45$ a side, i think i remember reading that you not supposed to reuse them

You should never reuse TTY (torque-to-yield) bolts. Buy the FRPP head changing kit , like $120 and you get 2 head gaskets, 4 exhaust gaskets, head bolts, and bolt lifters for install.

nope, discard and get new. TTY bolts are one time use only.

at work it says on my parts lookup under notes for head gaskets to always replace with new headbolts.

+1 on the ford racing head changing kit, also you get a new dipstick tube, a least mine did, I got mine from Late Model Restoration for $104.95 plus shipping.
