Stock height with draglites

Most people go with a 15x8 with 5.5" backspacing on the rear and a 15x3.5" in the front. Here is a pic of my 88 coupe. I have the exact wheel dimensions I just listed with stock ride height. I will get some better pics in the near future. This is with a MT Sportman front tire in a 26x5x15 and in the rear a 26x11.50x15 ET Street.

i have 15x5's in the front and not lowered yet... im having the same concern. so here ya go

15x10 w/ a 5.5 backspacing.. 275/60-15 --- that will DEF fills out the wheel wells on a non lowered LX, may be able to get pics tonight.. My car is lowered I have 275/50 - 15's on a 4.5 backspace and 15x3.5's up front, and it tucks the front and the back really nice...

heres mine with my street tires, fronts are 165r 15 and rears are 255/60/15 on a 15x8 (5.5'" bs)

I have 15x8x5.5 rear and 15x6 on the front. The back tires in the pic are 255/60's, which are too tall in my opinion. I'm gonna switch to a 265/50 or 275/50. Front tires are 215/60, going to a 205/60 next time. Also, I have Eibach drag launch kit on there. Doesn't look lower than stock to me, but it's supposed to drop it 1/2 inch or so.

I like the stock ride hight...maby the front is a inch to high but I like the stock hight overall

drags springs wont lower your car... if anything the front end will sit higher out of the box, its a longer spring that when compressed will store more energy and when under acceleration the stored energy makes it easier for the front end to come up. some cars with less weight (ie battery relocated, alum heads, deleted accerories) will have a signifigantly lighter front end and the drags springs may hold the front end up higher than stock.

alot of people cut the springs after they settle to achieve desired ride height.

I wasn't going to say anything, but I can't help it. The 3.5" skinnies up front are fine for the track, but for a car that's gonna be a daily driver and/or see any significant amount of precipitation, they may not be the best choice. I understand some people run them and report no issues, but less tire to the ground means less friction (after all, that's why people use them at the drag strip) and less friction means your brakes won't work as well. The fox body's primarily use the front disc brakes to stop the car, so keep that in mind when buying skinnies for the front of your daily driver cars. Weekend/fun cars or drag cars...go for it. Just my opinion.

Also, 28" tires, in my opinion are too much for a fox. It definitely fills up the wheel well, but too much in my opinion. 275/60 is roughly 28". Go for a 275/50, which is roughly 26" and fits much more nicely. My LX has 275/50 BFGoodrich Radial T/A's mounted to 15x9's (5.5"B.S.); it has 15x6.5's in the front w/ 195/60's. If you decide to do the 275's in the rear, do a couple searches and see what might be involved. There's PLENTY of info about that on Stangnet.

Krafty I honestly can't report any problems with the skinny tires up front. I have owned 9 mustangs and I have used all sorts of wheel and tire combinations ranging from 17x9 cobra r's to roh 16x8's, pony wheels, rodlites, prostars, and of course the draglite wheel and tire combo on the coupe. I am not a corner carver in any way so I never push the car to its limits in curves. I don't run the skinny's in the front for less rotational mass like some do at the track. I really like the look of the small fronts on most of my cars and since I don't care for curves they fit my driving style just fine.

The current coupe I have drives excellent to me. The car turns well and doesn't exhibit any push going into curves or exiting them. I have never had the fronts lock up or lose traction either. I can see how some may not trust the smaller fronts but honestly I think that if you drive hard enough to lock up the fronts that you are either pushing your car too hard on the street or need to take your car to road course events to be safe and have fun. Please don't take that the wrong way because it's not meant as negative talk towards anyone that dislikes the skinny tires up front. Everyone has their preferences and goals as to what they want their car to do. For me it's straight line 90% of the time so the skinnies work for me.

Don't want to hijack the thread but I'm in the same boat except I would like to rotate all four tires, would my stang look like a truck if I have the same size tires all around on draglites? I'm looking to do a TC rear end swap so that may put the rears out enough to make it look ok, right? Pics?
