I think Ford made a big mistake trying to get people locked into FPP. Seems like they stopped using the 302 to kill the aftermarket. They then changed platforms so much that the aftermarket couldn't keep up. That whole time chevy performance parts where all over the place. The coyote is nice....but it has its complications. Most people still just lock the timing on a coyote to make big power.
Being a Ford fan it really sucks. In the end....I love the fact that a 30yr old ford engine can come around a similarly built 350. The going fast thing is coming to an end with me. Im realizing that its left to the big money guys just like real drag racing. Bracket racing is one thing but there's almost no way to compete anywhere else with out a team.
That's why I joined NAPA HPDE racing. It's more dependent on drivers skill in my class. ( not that I'm competing yet ).
I don't care what engine people stuff in their cars as long as it's done interestingly enough. Wish I would've seen more Triton v10 action....but the support just wasn't there for it.
I'm actually hunting for a mid to late 90s BMW 325 or 328 with a manual transmission. The mustangs will still be around...but I want track time. Could track my fox but I'm keeping that as a street car. The 19 won't be tracked for a while.
