worth the money for "aftermarket" lifters?

Worth the money if you do them with a cam at the same time. It's a good idea to do them together...

No, you have no need for aftermarket lifters.
TWs tend to be a little noisier than other stud mount heads. If you want less noise, run more preload. I run 1/4 turn because I care more about the little extra power, but 1/2-3/4 turn will be quieter.
