I'm removing all of this mess (keeps leaking, was on car when I bought it, gauges coming out too).

How was the stock sending unit installed? Just it by itself screwed into the block? Is Permatex High Temp Thread Sealant (59214) the right stuff to use on it?

The sending unit screws directly into the block...I just used regular teflon tape and it has worked so far.

teflon tape works, just threads right into the block. When I was trying to run both sending units, the fittings kept leaking. Finally I said screw it and ran a 4AN nitrous line from the block to the autometer unit mounted below my bettery. Doesn't leak anymore.

That is actually a pretty efficient way they did it.

I would seal it up good and leave it all in there. A tiny leak is worth it to have a real gauge.

But the above replies are right - the sender goes straight into the block.

Good luck.
