stock rod

yea the rods are not that great. as for the crank people say they are only good to 500 but i have never hurd of one breaking. there was a guy in 5.0 magainze with the green bullit that won king of street and he was running stock crank making like 700hp. im gonna keep my stock crank when i do my motor too.

Well this is 4.6L 2V TECH guys....obviously its a GT :rlaugh: . And if its a cobra....hes in the wrong forum. We shouldnt even assume its anything besides a GT....and they are all capable of handling around the same power.

ANYWHO, the crank is rated for 500RWHP and from what I hear the rods are rated @ 450RWHP. GENERAL rule of thumb is to stay around 420RWHP....as the pistons suck also. A few of us push beyond that...but we also have VERY safe tunes, and a bit of a need for speed :rlaugh: .
I dont know of any making more power than mine that are 100% DD cars...I put 1500+ miles per month on it....and I go WOT ALL THE TIME :) I generally run @ 8PSI (450RWHP) but sometimes I run it at 9PSI....another thing is that I shift @ 5500 90% of the time....I dont like taking it any higher becuase its more stress on the rods.

I don't think he was neccessarily talking about the failure of the crank persay. I would be more interested in having a forged unit that is balanced for obvious reasons.

No, because most people dont run a GT crank if they want big power. The forged units are good for around 1000RWHP.....they are tough to break. Im sure the Gts cranks would take well over 600RWHP....but from what I have read they are rated @ 500HP.

I wouldnt take a chance of breaking all your good parts....spend the few hundered more and get some assurance.
