My rear stock subwoofers for my 1999 Mustang GT sound system stopped workin. Is there a fuse or something like that somewhere that I can fix myself?

If Im not mistaken, the Mach 1000 did not come out until 2002. If you have a Mach 460, you do not have subwoofers, you have 5x8's

Same thing happened to me on the Mach 460 (this is what you have to). When I use to turn the radio on I would hear the music then a second later the amp would come on and I would get the bass. Now I don't have bass and when I go over bumps I hear like a static popping sound. I think some wire is lose on mine but I don't no where to start looking.

Not hearing the amp come on right away is normal...its just waiting to get the power signal from the remote power wire. Now as for the speakers not working at all, sounds like a loose wire for the second post, and for the 1st post I dunno,One of the amps in the trunk area are for the lower door speakers.I would check wires and the fuse box.Hopefuly that amp didnt take a dump.

The amps for the bass are in the trunk, there is one connector there on each amp,one that connects to the radio, and of course in the door...wires goin to each speaker. But if both speakers are not working Its most likely at the amp or head unit.

if you open your rear seats you can lay down in the trunk and look up at the bottom of the amps, there is a plastic plug in the middle that came un plugged on mine once.

Have you tried turning the volume up? Mine got to where I had to turn the volume up to loud to get the rear speakers to kick in then I could turn it back down and it was okay till I shut the car off. Pretty much every time I start up I had to crank the volume up then readjust.

I had a problem where the door 5X8's just stopped working, but the back ones worked. I troubleshot it down to a bad amp in the trunk. I pulled both amps and switched them then bingo, the door 5X8's started working but the back ones didn't. I ordered a used amp from mpsautosalvage.com for $70 approx and that fixed it. Check the amps in the trunk.

I finally took my car to an auto adio place and they didn't look at it at all and told me both amps are bad. And I said they both went bad simultaneously? They just said "you need a new radio cuz we can't get the amps."$315 was the very cheap radio and install. Bull. I really doubt both went at the same time.

You actually have 3 amps in your car, the 3rd is behind the cd player or in that area. I never worried about it, just yanked out the crappy Mach system. Get a 2nd opinion but I doubt there will be a cheap or easy fix. If you are ok with the mach system might try to get amps on Ebay or junkyard but if that doesn't fix it then you will be back at square one.

My speakers were shot, so took everything out and started over.
I still have both amps just sitting in the garage. If anyone needs 'em, $20 + shipping.
