It's stronger than you'd think.
I have a link in the Tech Articles that shows the strengths of misc. t-5s.
The link should say gear ratios.

it's strong enough that some 5.0 guys use them behind V8's.

They don't hold up long if they abuse them however

It all depends on what you do with it. The 4cyl has a lower rating than V8 units because of the first gear ratio/input shaft. Unless you are launching really hard on slicks, there is no reason to be concerned about it.

so no ones had any major problems with one ?

i was just worried bout it ...i have a 88tc motor and was hoping to reach about 300 hp when done and thats it dont want anything to outrageous.

is there nay things to beef them up a bit besides the clutch ?

what type of clutch do most of you guys use ? and is it the same as a 5.0 clutch or is it a different size ?

It will hold up fine, I have only had two go bad on me in the last few years and I abuse them with slicks at the track. And I have never had a failure with them from launching. It is normally 3rd gear that has caused the problems. And it is mid pull when they let go. You will know when it is going to happen, they start shaking like a shift is a tad bit tweaked then you hear the awfull noise a few seconds later. But the v8 t5 are no better/worse.

Clutch is not the same...check Spec clutches. You'd be suprised what a stock ford clutch will hold for power though.

you have to use the correct the bell housing, and the imput shaft has to be replaced also.
