I had a very similar thing happen to me with a 1983 Capri... It would start up just fine, run fine but have a little idling problem not too dissimilar to what you described. When you turned it off however it would take an hour or so before it "cooled down" and you could restart it. It made a sound like the starter was just spinning on itself, not reallying cranking over just a whizzzzzz sound but nothing catching.
After several self repair attempts and a few trips to the mechanic it turned out to be a bad distributor stator. replaced that and the car motored on another 50K miles problem free.

Here's a thread similar to yours that gives more info on the stator problem:

Good luck!

Sounds like a starter issue, the solenoid will go after time. What you are describing is the symptom,.....but with the idle issues, could be a different ball game,or coincidence that both issues happenned at the same time, and the idle issue could be another problem all together like the IAC.

THATS MAY B THE ISSUE BUT IF THE SOLENOID IS OUT WOULDNT THE STARTER JUST NOT COME ON IT TURNS OVER JUST WONT FIRE UP? AND WHEN IM DRIVING THE CAR AFTER WARM UP I WILL LET IT IDLE AND IT WILL SHOOT UP 2 3000RPM AND THEN MAKE ITS WAY BACK DOWN BUT IT WILL SIT THERE AND CUT OUT LIKE ITS NOT GETTING ENOUGH FUEL UNTIL I TURN IT OFF OR DRIVE IT ALSO THE FAN SHUT OFF AND IT WILL OVERHEAT ANY IDEA WHAT IT IS....I HAVENT TAPED 2ND COOLENT SENSOR YET COULD THIS B THE ISSUE OF THE FAN ?

I would get a code scanner and see if it throws any codes. Make sure you take it with you so that you can scan it when the issue occurs. It sounds like a sensor or electrical issue somewhere.
