Heya guys, been soakin up the knowledge here for quite a while, even if the post count doesnt show it :P ( more of a reader than a writer i suppose )

Finally had to give in and ask this one though, as i dont want to jump in and spend more money than necessary to fix a terribly obnoxious almost knock sound from the left rear corner of my car...little description is in order.

When i first bought my car there was a loud repetetive knocking noise from the left rear corner under deceleration above about..50mph. it went away when i put the car under load until i hit about 70, then it popped up regardless. hard right turns also brought it out, and decelerating rights at high speed? scary. I assumed wheel bearing, and sure enough, the bearing was bad. I had it replaced, no more noise. Not a month later, it was back. it cant be the bearing again....can it? Ive racked my brain and come up with u joints, wheel bearing again, or maybe a shock ( kinda matches the clunk, but the shocks feel fine to me ) Any help you can offer as to how to diagnose it, or even a cause i might have missed would be greatly appreciated. Just dont particularly want to deal with the wheel bearing or ..*gulp* rear end, if not necessary. Thanks!

To me I would guess wheel bearing again, maybe axle too... here's why...

YOu say that changing the bearing fixed it for a months, so it has to be ties to that reason if it is in fact the same noise... Now if a new bearing goes bad it could be a bad install, not enough lubricant, not packed with grease well enough (Not sure if you have to grease these when you install them), or the axle itself is now undersize or scored as that can ruin the bearing in short order as well...

Sinc eyou already have gears I would say to check the bearing again or at least pull the axle and see what that surface looks line on the axle.. I am thinking that is your culprit if you have enough lube in the rear end.
