Strange noise from tranny?

i have just finished installing a new clutch kit and have it all finished up and when i went to start the car there was a loud knocking noise coming from the transmission and it is very difficult to shift into certain gears. Anyone kno whats wrong or how to fix it?

you had the shifter off right? most likely you droped somthing down the shifter tunnel. if that happend you need a new tranny. we had a tech do exactly that on a f-150 he did a clutch on.

I never actually took the shifter out of the tranny all i did was take the shifter handle off
