every time i start my car now (03 GT), the gauges cycle, meaning the speedo, tach, fuel.. etc, goes to max, stays for a sec., then goes back to the normal position. i never noticed this before. anyone elses gauges cycle on a cold start?

only on the first start of the day does this happen.
They only do that when the computer resets (i.e. you disconnect the battery) check your battery connections, if they are tight then you might have an electrical problem somewhere
think i should bring it to the dealer?

I check my battery first then if everything was nice and tight I would take it to the dealer. Only problem is you said it only does it first thing in the morning, you might have to leave it over night so they can see what is happening

i popped my hood and checked the battery contacts like you suggested. they were nice and tight

i guess i should bring up that i brought the car to be tinted last wednesday

when i popped the hood before, it was the first time since the tinting. I noticed a white wire with a black stripe. it was obviously cut at both ends, and was just laying over the strut tower and hanging

i also noticed that the wire that goes into the alarm siren is white with a black stripe, this is crimped to a red wire with black stripe.

my question is, do you think the ford techs left this wire there, and it has been there for so long without my notice (they installed the passive alarm)

or

did the tint place decide to screw around with something, and is that why the gauges are cycling. i dont remember this happening prior to me tinting the windows.

what do you think

It is possible that that is a ground wire and is causing your gauges to go crazy. Definately take it to the ford place and have them check it out. Since they installed the alarm they should know right away
