Strange question about an oilpump/oilpan problem my friend is having

My friend is installing a 302 into a Supra. He said that there's a problem...its a front sump pan. Oilpump bolts to the front of the block...and according to him its in the way and he needs to have the pump in the back of the block. And can use a rear sump. Now I'm slightly confused myself as to what he's talking about but any ideas. He said somethin about the crossmember being in the way to have a rear sump though w/ the location of the pump on the block.

I wish he would instead of wasting a SBF. I told him the pump mounts the same place in all the 5.0s...he still thinks it can be relocated to the back of the block or somethin....well...at least he'll raise the value of the Supra.
